Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin has killed a plan to shift money from a major homelessness program in response to a wave of protest from Veteran’s advocates who said the move would aggravate conditions for chronically ill and vulnerable Veterans.
How is it that the VA Secretary is so out of touch that he has to be convinced to help homeless Veterans? I mean really? What is the thought process when considering putting Veteran’s on the street? It should be a no-brainer. No way do we cut funding for housing for Veterans!
On November 27th Secretary Shulkin had just appeared at a Washington, DC homeless shelter to champion President Trump’s commitment to ending Veteran homelessness. Then on December 1st his staff announced the Veteran’s Administration’s plan to cut funding to the $460 million homeless Veteran’s program. Helping Veteran’s is always a good talking point but too often the action is the opposite.
We at Veteran’s Moving Help LLC are serious about Veterans employment. When we can create a job for a Veteran, we are eliminating one of the root causes of homelessness. Join us and Hire Veterans!
